The World Bank has approved an additional $80 million in financing to support the digital transformation of public services in Albania. This fund will help Albania move towards more advanced public sector reforms, improve public service delivery, strengthen human capital, and foster more sustainable and inclusive growth, RTSh reports, KosovaPress reports. The financing is part of a project that aims for equal and high-standard access for citizens to public services, which has so far invested $65 million in the development of the e-Albania platform, the creation of innovation centers, and the establishment of 200 digital laboratories in schools. With this new support, the project will expand into three main areas: digitizing municipal services to facilitate citizen access, creating a modern public procurement platform using artificial intelligence, and building a new system for managing public finances. According to the World Bank, this financing is expected to increase the transparency and efficiency of public administration and bring about an increase of at least 25% in the processing of online applications for services. This investment is in line with Albania’s commitment to a more open and modern government.
